VIP Boro & sashiko 105x160  cm
#studiolife 💙 After months of work, it looks finished, except that a boro job never ends! 105x160 cm. Starting with organic indigo dyeing of eco cotton, wool, flax, silk and afterwards thousands of small hand stitches. The work is inspired and with great respect for the original, cultural and historical boro crafts from Japan. Originally the technique was used as repairs on garments by poor people and the stitches were invisible, my works have got a Nordic interpretation. Big thanks for the inspiration 🙏💙 Plant-colored Indigo, with Michel Garcia 1-2-3 organic technique, on silk, cotton, wool, linen, all organic.

Boro & sashiko 60x80  cm #studiolife 💙 visit @tinalorien at the @gallerielorien on the beautiful island of Bornholm Nordic Light exhibition at Gallerie Lorien💕 last Day 31 august. Then the exhibition moves to Copenhagen where there is a varnishing on September 5
Inspired by the color blue and the desire to apply the pure colors of nature.
Searched a plant that colors blue, inspired by the Nordic light, and found to my delight the "Nordic Indigo" - Color Vajd - Isatis tinctoria.

Color Vajd is very rare in Denmark, except on Bornholm, which made it obvious to use it for the summer exhibition.

With the different blue shades of different fabrics, I was inspired by the old Japanese techniques Boro and Sashiko.

Boro is the way, for example. the old Japanese kimonos were repaired, pat on lap. They repaired the Kimono's for several generations.
Sashiko means "little stitch".
The traditional technique was originally used to repair and insulate clothing.

materials

Silk
linen
Wool
Cotton

The color from Farve-Vajd is extracted without the use of toxic chemicals, only fruit sugar and lime are used.
